Wedding Beauty Timeline: The Ultimate Wedding Skin Prep

If there are wedding bells ringing in your future, you’re probably in the midst of planning out every aspect of your big day. Will you have a local or destination wedding? Intimate ceremony or grand party? Pink or white nails? Mermaid or A-line dress? The decisions are endless. But alongside a streamlined workout routine and nutrition plan, getting your skin wedding-ready should be at the top of your health goals. We know it may feel intimidating, but no matter how much time you have, we have a plan to get your complexion prepped to perfection before you say I do.

6-12 Months Before

If you have over 6 months before your wedding, congrats! You should have no issues achieving your wedding skin goals. Now is a great time to get a professional’s opinion - if it’s in the budget. A dermatologist or esthetician will be able to determine the best plan of action to get your skin wedding-day ready, from chemical peels for serious transformations to at-home care for skin maintenance.

4-6 Months Before

Start following your professional plan and get started with those facials. You’ll want to make sure your skin has enough time to adjust to the treatments and see the expected results. Whether it’s a basic facial or a more intense chemical peel, the earlier you start and the more consistent you are, the better. Plus, it’s the perfect way to relax during the hectic planning process.

2-4 Months Before

It can be easy to focus on just your face, but don't forget about the rest of your skin, namely your chest, back, arms and hands. Regular manicures leading up to your wedding will ensure your nails and hands look primed for those up close ring shots, while body exfoliation will help you achieve your smoothest skin, which is especially important if you plan to spray tan before your nuptials. If you’re able, try to have at least one trial run for each aspect of your beauty needs (hair, makeup, nails, spray tan, etc.) to ensure the look you envision turns out how you want it to.

Month Before

Stick to the plan. You’re in the home stretch but it’s easy to think you can slack off. Be consistent with your at-home care and get your final treatments out of the way to ensure your skin is fully healed before picture day. You're so close to achieving your dream wedding skin goals, don't give up now!

1-2 Weeks Before

HYDRATE. What your skin needs is lots of added moisture to keep it looking youthful and radiant. But keep it to products that you know and love - now isn’t the time to test out a new mask. Refer to your dermatologist or esthetician to see if it makes sense to ease off any exfoliants or active formulas to give your skin a chance to rest and recover. Whether you should continue or not is determined based on your skin type and major skin concerns.

Day Before

If you can squeeze in a workout today, your skin will thank you. Getting your blood pumping helps release any toxins that are stored in your skin and body, not to mention help you ditch those wedding week jitters. And while you’re at it, think about drinking more water than alcohol at the rehearsal dinner. We know, we know, weddings are a time for celebration, but we promise you’ll thank us when you wake up nice and hydrated for the main event.

Pro Tip: Stressed over a blemish? Don’t freak out. Instead, try a spot treatment to help erase that pesky pimple.

Day Of

You made it! The best thing to do today is to *try* not to work yourself up about anything and to give your skin and body as many nutrients as you can. Stick to water over mimosas and give yourself healthy snacks to munch on throughout the day. Try a hydrating mask while you wait to get your hair and makeup done and ask if your makeup artist can use a hydrating mist to lock in your look.

Even if you're not planning to head down the aisle just yet, there's no reason why you can't get your skin wedding-ready a little early! Wedding skin prep is perfect for any big event or any time you're looking to amp up your routine for a flawless, radiant complexion.
